Hey Waton at least they've got a tenancy. Next year's Days Text might relegate them to tourists. They might only get a time-share on a log cabin.

The Craziness of an Average Bible Study
by Number 6 inlast week i posted a thread asking about who knew any "real anointed" and got some cracking replies.. that got me to thinking, as someone brought up in the 70's and 80's in the watchtower religion, my experience of bible studeis in their homes and those who made it to the hall were mostly batshit crazy or at least people with some serious quirks.. i'll relate a few, none of whose names i remember with any clarity.. in our cong we had an older couple who were from london, but who had been in the 1950's in the circuit work in the mid west usa.
they brought along some woman one night they had started a study with who told everyone cheerfully she was a recovering alcoholic and this was her cure (coming to the meetings).
this went on for a few weeks until one night they brought her to the memorial and she was royally pissed, and i mean barely able to stand; and went up to the platform table and necked some wine.

I was kind of lied to in my Bible study. But my congregation was made up of nice people. The elders were good at ducking and diving and brought studies in while dodging around the silly bits. I was booted out this year for sticking to the Bible and some of the others from my ex-congregation have come out/are in the process of leaving.
I had lots of calls but no one ever progressed and I'm not surprised. Regular calls liked having their Watchtowers delivered and a chat. Some people were in a mess and very chaotic. One sad young man I called on was an alcoholic. He'd lie on his bed, drinking cider and smoking cigarettes. He treasured the Bible his mother had given him and would speak fondly of the miracle of life and how amazing it was when his girlfriend's kittens were born.
Although we would try to read him bits from the Bible he never seemed to take it in or be able to remember what we spoke about. He was in a mental fog.
I had called on him for several months, then I saw the headline on the local newspaper. He had set the house on fire he was living in because he had fallen asleep with a cigarette in his hand. The people in the flat above him survived. But he did not.

When was it time for you to walk away from your congregation meetings and the WTBTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe basic virtue for a human being is to be true to yourself – the integrity of thought, emotion, and action.. .
ten years ago ( after 32 years as a jehovah's witness), i finally decided that my own mental sanity and being true to myself was more important than attending congregation meetings and serving the watchtower society.
i stopped (years before) field service, the ministry school, answering at the watchtower studies, missed numerous meetings and walked in minutes before the meetings started and left after the closing prayer, i knew it was time to leave.

I came in in 1992. I knew the Bible well, asked in-depth questions in my study. Had x2 elders attend my study and got serious issues I identified blagged away by them. So in a way I was lied to, or dealt with in a crafty manner.
Not imagining anyone professing to be Christian would act so badly, I put certain dumb teachings (which I felt were not deal breakers) on the back burner but never went along with them.
People were kind to me which I deeply appreciated and some were definately Christians, others were having a laugh.
Doing talks was very easy for me. The brothers were sad that I wasn't a man because they would have loved to have made me an elder. I was SO glad I wasn't a man. Maybe if I had been a man I would have left a lot earlier because I would have seen what went on behind the scenes. But I didn't and in that way I remained ignorant on some matters.
I was always willing to do stand-in talks and in 2005, I discovered a deal-breaking teaching which had not been covered in my Bible study. I immediately took this matter up with the elders, one of whom had sat in on my study. It was acknowledged that I had a point but I was told that it was not up to me to correct doctrine. I had to 'wait on Jehovah'. Which basically meant, keep your mouth shut and wait on the GB. I did point out the mistake was not with Jehovah who had nothing to correct and it was up to the GB to correct. Meantime I'd stick with what the Bible said. For this I got thrown out in summer this year (2019).
Here's my video about it. And Brother 50% occasionally sat in on my Bible study.

GoingThruTheMotions - Casually ask her if she knows how long King Jehoiachin of Judah ruled for.
Answer is 3 months 10 days.
Then ask her if she thinks the scripture below is talking about the 8th year of King Jehoiachin or the 8th year of Nebuchadnezzar.
(2 Kings 24:12) . . .At length Je‧hoi′a‧chin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he with his mother and his servants and his princes and his court officials; and the king of Babylon got to take him in the eighth year of his being king. . .
If she starts to reason with you on this you are potentially only 6 scriptures away from getting her out. Or at least getting her to annoy the elders with questions they can't answer. Hey you might even get the elders out.
If you want further info please see the website I put up to prove that the GB are apostates. This is the explanation page:
Explanation - Request to GB for two missing timelines
This is the Seven Key Scriptures page:
The Seven Key Scriptures that Destroy the 1914 Doctrine
I hope to put up a clearer explanation at some point, meantime this is the best I can offer.

Truth vs Myth- how to spot the difference
by joey jojo inmyth:.
speculation... .
expectation... .

Truth - time, location, names (things ordinary people can check and understand - ie you don't need a degree).
Fiction - a long, long time ago, somewhere you've never heard of, an unnamed friend of a friend.
Fiction - liberal use of double negatives - ideally try to get 5 in one sentence so that everyone's head goes funny trying to work it out.

Oh Waton, never thought she might have passed through Gilead but could be.
Diogenester, I don't know much but I can tell you how I heard about Vera. I used to work regularly with 2 special pioneers. Both of the special pioneers were widows and used to be based near London.
At some point, Vera De Saint Croix visited London and because she was SO special, the two special pioneers were asked to look after her. I think they took her around London and showed her places of interest.
If Fred Franz' library was in America (which I assume it was), these two special pioneers must have later visited America because one of them was delighted to have ended up in Fred Franz's library due to this connection with Vera De St Croix. Fred Franz was not in his library, so she didn't get to meet him.
I never told the special pioneer sister who told me all this that I was emailing his nephew Ray Franz. I should have asked Ray about Vera shouldn't I! But I was too busy discussing 1914 with him and when I told the special pioneer sister that I was trying to learn Hebrew, she told me off and said I ought to do something useful like learn Chinese. She would have laid into me even more if I had told her I was in touch with Ray Franz.
Now she wont talk to me but that's because I've been disfellowshipped... for being able to count and read.

If street art is legal where you live, you could always write something thought provoking on the spot where they are going to park their sandwich board on wheels.
How about about, "30 minutes in a coffee house is worth 2 hours standing beside a trolley - make it your goal today."

You were wise Sigfrid.
This sort of pressure can put strains on your health. When the KH of my ex-cong (I got throw out) was being rennovated, one of the brothers taking the lead was so harsh he was nick-name Pharaoh.
